The SC/ST (Prevention Of Atrocities) Act 1989 Of India is an act which was approved by the Parliament of India to protect the rights of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes. According to the some sources, few Amendment has been passed by the government to strengthen existing provisions and to add new offenses against SC and ST and these are :
>> A new office has been included that the use common resources against ST and SC that includes wells, grounds and socially and economically boycott will be treated as a crime against them.
>> Any action that prevents SC and ST from the nominations for election will be treated as a crime.

Obstructing use of common resources such as wells, grounds and socially and economically boycotting SCs and STs) and provides for stricter punishment in some cases.
preventing SCs and STs from filing nominations for elections will also be now treated as crime ( denial of voting rights to them is already an offence).
