WSDL stands for Web Services Description Language. It is an interface description language which is based on Extensible Markup Language (XML) and is used for describing the functionality of a webservice. It is developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and launched in September, 2000. It provides the description in machine readable language and a total of four versions have been launched so far of this language i.e. WSDL 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 2.0.
