The exchange of information between mail client and mail server takes place with the help of four protocols, and these are:
>> IMAP (Internet message access protocol): It is a client-server protocol, which helps in building up the connection between an email and the local server. It works well even when the internet connection is slow.
>> POP3 (Post office protocol 3): This protocol helps in downloading all the email messages from the mail server to your computer.
>> SMTP (Simple mail transfer protocol): It’s a simple protocol, which acts as a mail transfer protocol and it helps in sending a message from the sender to the recipient.
>> HTTP (Hypertext transfer protocol): It is also known as the web based protocol which is used in accessing the mailbox. It also helps in retrieving all the email messages.
