Minecraft uses a control system for controlling the mouse and keyboard together. It cannot be played using either mouse or keyboard rather we have to use both for playing the game. The controls can be found below the creative mode and are used by pressing the escape button. It is placed in the option menu. By default some of these are W= to move ahead, A= to move left, S= to step back, Q= drop item etc.
