I will explain it with two examples.
(1) I throw 2 candies on the ground, one covered with a wrapper and one not covered. I ask you to pick one of those for yourself. Which one will you choose? The answer is obvious. The covered one. This is the main concept behind hijab.
(2) Suppose there are two twin sisters, equally beautiful, walking down the street, one in hijab (Fully covered) and the other in mini-skirt. And across the street there is some hooligan awaits to molest some girl. Who will he choose? This is the other obvious reason for wearing hijab. Especially in this era of hatred when muslims are prejudiced all over the world.

I don’t know much about it but I think it’s a part of their religious believe.
