A 9 year old boy named Ken from the Philippines always had the dream that one day he would be able to open his own animal shelter to take care of all the stray dogs and cats that live in the area around his home. Having recently posted some pictures online of himself caring for some stray dogs a few months ago, his story later went viral on the internet and his dream of a having a pet shelter became a reality as personal support and donations for his project came in from all around the world.
He has since begun using the money he’s received to feed and care for the first dogs in his original animal club. “We got enough money to get the dogs I was feeding off the street, feed them high quality canned food, and provide them with veterinary care. They gained a LOT of weight, their open wounds healed, and their fur grew back. They also learned not to be scared of humans.” He has also used the money to make the payment on a 1 year lease for a facility where he hopes to continue his no-kill animal shelter for local strays. There seems to be no stopping this kid who just wants to take care of the stray animals. RESPECT!

One day Ken decided to do something about it.

He began feeding and caring for the animals he saw and did his best to nurse them back to good health.

Some of the strays were sick with mange and were in need of special medical treatment.

Ken decided to post some of these photos online and tell the world about his dream of building a pet shelter.

After the photos that he posted went viral on the internet, people from all over the world responded with a wave of support for Ken and his “Happy Animal Club” and also they sent him donations in order to turn his dream into a reality.

He seems to be a natural with animals and the pets definitely seem to enjoy his smiling face and the extra special care he gives them.

“Ever since I can remember I wanted to open an animal shelter to help the stray dogs and cats on the streets.”

Ken recently said this on his website: “The official at the pound said most dogs are put down because only 20-30% of owners claim their dogs, and no animal welfare organization is doing something about it. I want to save as many of those dogs as I can from being killed for no reason.”

In May 1, Ken and his dad signed a one year lease to rent this facility for $1,500 using the money from the donations.

The work seems to be coming along well on the animal club and although he doesn’t yet have enough donations to pay for the food and treatment that he will need to provide for the strays he takes in, Ken hopes to have enough money soon.
