    “Eratosthenes” is widely regarded as the father of geography as he is the first person to define the word geography. He was a Greek geographer, poet and mathematician and was born in 276 BC in Cyrene. He was also the first person to calculate the circumference of the Earth and the distance between Earth and the Sun.
