    The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) is an organization dedicated to the development of arts and science of motion pictures. The Academy has over 6,000 motion picture professionals. AMPAS is famous around the world for its annual Academy Awards or “Oscars”. Cheryl Boone Isaacs is the current president of the academy. She is the third women and first African American to lead the academy.
